Why You Need An Email List in China

High ROI Email Marketing

Email marketing is top-rated for acquiring prospects, nurturing people from leads into customers, and retaining customers. It work in the full customer lifecycle.

It has one of the highest ROI (returns on investment) of any marketing tactic.

Who Owns the Platforms

No one actually owns their accounts on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google +, Instagram,  . . . they are all owned by someone else and could be taken away from you, suspended, or shut down, at any moment.

What Are Working in China?

When you are marketing to the Chinese audience, it's even worse. Most of your familiar platforms are BLOCKED in China. People in China, including foreign travelers, can only visit Facebook, youtube, and a lot of overseas blocked sites  through VPNs like ExpressVPN, Surfshark, etc.

These typical social media marketing platforms are not working in China, instead, you need to learn a lot of bran new platforms in China: weibo, wechat, douyin, zhihu, baidu zhidao, etc.

There is a big learning curve for all the above, and it's not that easy to run successful campaigns. I've composed a practical course to guide you through all these.

Build Your Digital Asset in China

Email marketing helps you build a real asset.

Email list is the only thing you have the complete control and ownership.  An email list is worth far more than all social media platforms and followers combined because you own your email list. Once you have someone’s email address, it’s yours forever!

Building a email list in China is not much different from that in other countries.

It's worth your investment, since in China, only a very small group of wise marketers put sufficient time and resources on this.

  • You have the ownership of a valuable digital asset.
  • Communicate with your Chinese customers directly. You are pretty good in the eye of those people who will sign up for your email list. They obviously like the things you share and want more.

Grow Your Email List, Get More Subscribers in China

Email marketing success relies on how many quality subscribers you've got.

There are hundreds of ways to get more subscribers. Here you can find the most effective methods specifically designed for small businesses.

They can help you get subscribers quickly.

1. Offer an Irresistible Incentive

Nowadays people won't give their cherished email address to you unless you can provide something worth the space of their inbox.

If you’re not getting many people to sign up for your email list, the most likely problem is that your opt-in incentive is not enough to attract people. Some people do not even provide any incentive!

Typically speaking,  you can offering them valuable ebooks, resources, tools, discounts, coupons, and sales. An unusually good discount, like 20%, could be quite attractive.

Different incentives work for different businesses. Always try out a few offers and see which incentive works for your product or service.

You can double, or triple your opt-in rate overnight with the right option.

2. Embed An Opt-in form, Not A Text Link

It’s a very simple rule.

This change alone often doubles the opt-in rate.

Embed the opt-in form wherever you ask people to sign up.

Don’t make people click through to a new page.

In most cases, you’ll double opt-in signups.

3. On every page of your site, Put an opt-in box

Make it easy for people to join your email list.

If people can’t see your opt-in box, they won’t sign up for your list.

Let them see it.

Ideally, you can add an opt-in box to the top of the vertical navigation column, and/or to the footer area.

Adding an opt-in box to the footer area typically increases the opt-in rate by around 25%.

Adding a “feature box,” which is a full-width opt-in box above the scroll line on your homepage, often doubles the opt-in rate.

4. Add a slider, pop-up or a lightbox

Pop ups get attentions, but are often annoying.

They don’t have to be annoying.

Here are two proven ways to make pop-ups less annoying, but  still effective:

  • Set your pop-up only to be shown to each visitor once per week. This way people won’t be seeing them again and again on every page every time they visit your website.
  • Set your pop-up to show only after people have been on your site for man than one minute.

You can use a slider or a lightbox If you don’t like the idea of a pop-up.

These are actually varieties of pop ups.

A slider only appears after someone has scrolled down the page a bit. Even when a slider appears, it’s in the bottom right-hand corner.

5. Run a Contest

Come up with a really great prize or award your ideal customer would really want.

Plan your promotion, launch it, and promote the campaign.

You can work the contest out through your social media to spread the word, and partner with other companies or individual who owns influential social accounts.

Whether you are just planning your China business or have been in the market for some time, you need to start building an email list.

It should be one of your top priorities in your China digital marketing.

So, how do you start building your email list in China?

Here’s what I recommend:

First, sign up with a professional email service provider

Do not run your email list through a private Gmail account or some other free personal email service.

Email marketing is difficult to control when the list is growing.

You'd better start in a professional way from the very beginning.

A wonderful email service provider can help you capture new email subscribers, create attractive emails and newsletters, group your subscribers and help you segment them, and organize all the info that you need once you send an email.

You can track the performance with ease and optimize all the time for the next campaign.

  • how many people received it,
  • how many people opened it,
  • how many people clicked through with the links you provided.

We are recommending you this great email service provider: CONSTANT CONTACT.

Let's check the reasons why:

  • It’s EASY to Use!

We have tried about 10 email providers in the past 10 years.

You can track your open rate, best time of day to send email, mobile vs. desktop, bounce rate, links that are clicked, etc. You can also send out a few versions of the same email to compare which one is better. You can optimize and get better results in this way, all the time!

Their prices are very competitive considering their service standard and product quality. Starting from $20/month for up to 500 emails is a good start for new business owners.
